Schubert Fest Planned

by Jackson Hole. Media

Two of Teton County, Wyoming’s prominent local music performing nonprofits – The Jackson Hole Chorale (“the Chorale”) and the Jackson Hole Symphony Orchestra – have collaborated to bring the community a special FREE SPRING CONCERT on Sunday, May 20, 2018, 4:00 p.m. @ Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church.  The concert includes a special display of spring artworks for viewing in the church Parish Hall by the Teton Plein Air Painters.

The “Schubert Fest” features the music of Franz Schubert, an Austrian composer who is ranked among the greatest composers of the late Classical and early Romantic eras.  “We are featuring the Mass No. 2 in G Major, which is one of Schubert’s shorter mass compositions, along with several other Schubert musical selections that demonstrate the beauty and quality of the Lieder style where poems have been set to music,” comments Ron Fabry, Chorale Director.

Juline Christofferson, Chorale Board President, shares, “We have been planning this collaborative concert since last fall with the Jackson Hole Symphony Orchestra, and spending months in rehearsals to learn and finalize the music.  The choir has been enjoying working together with Mimi Smith, founder of the orchestra, Vince Gutwein, Director and all the talented musicians.”  The community is invited to attend this FREE concert and enjoy the homemade treats and refreshments to be served in the church lobby at the end of the event.

Supported in part by a grant from the Wyoming Arts Council through funding from the Wyoming State Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts, the Center of Wonder Arts for All and the Community Foundation of Jackson Hole.  For more information visit our website
