Highway Crews in Grand Teton national Park were able to finally open US Highway 89 through the park between Moose and Moran at about 9:00 am Thursday morning, after being closed most of three days. The road crew worked long hours on the section of road, battling high winds which caused blowing snow to fill in behind rotary equipment as soon as they passed by. Additionally, the crews encountered record amounts of snow requiring more time, more space and more equipment to move the snow. The crews also came across 40 winter-stressed bison gathered on the highway which delayed and complicated the work even further. Ultimately, the bison were herded south and off the highway.
