A contractor who had been working in Jackson has been fined for the illegal dumping of industrial trash on BLM land near Farson. Law enforcement officers from the Bureau of Land Management Wyoming High Desert recently concluded an investigation into a large dump of industrial debris found on public land adjacent Highway 191 just north of Farson. The pile contained roofing materials and construction trash. The trash pile also contained a water bottle with a name on it which law enforcement personnel were able to track back to the people responsible for the illegal dumping. They learned that the trash originated from a contractor who had been working in the Jackson area and was traveling back to Colorado through Farson. The infraction is a misdemeanor and can result in a fine of up to $100,000 and up to a year in jail. The BLM spoke to the person responsible and issued what they termed “a substantial citation.” Volunteers from Jonah Energy went to the site and cleaned it up.
