One person has died as the result of a late night fire Wednesday at a Pinedale home, while a second person was able to escape although suffering from burns and smoke inhalation. According to the Sublette County Sheriff’s Office, the Sublette County Unified Fire Department was summoned to the house fire shortly before 11:00 pm and found the home to be partially involved and actively burning. They also found resident Tricia Gunderson outside the home. Upon being advised of a second person still in the burning home, fire personnel immediately began knocking down the flames to gain access. Officials say the firefighters searched through heavy smoke and flames and found the unidentified person inside, deceased. An autopsy is scheduled for the deceased and the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Gunderson was transported to the Pinedale Medical Clinic and later life-flighted to Eastern Idaho Medical Center in Idaho Falls. Altogether, 32 firefighters and 1o pieces of fire apparatus from three area battalions responded to the fire.
