Lion Will Probably Eat And Run

by Jackson Hole Radio News

It was the best show in town Wednesday around 1:30 pm when a mountain lion descended High School Butte to feast on carrion from a deer that had been struck and killed by a motorist near the intersection of South Highway 89 and South Park Loop road. Scores of onlookers lined up across the street with their cameras and school officials warned to keep children out of the area. Whether or not the lion makes curtain calls is not entirely known, but Wyoming Game and Fish Spokesman Mark Gocke says the plan is to monitor the situation let nature take its course. Gocke told Jackson Hole Radio, “My guess is it’ll likely clean up the carcass and move on, if it hasn’t already.” Mountain lion activity in the area of High School Hill is not without precedence.
