Two fires are burning in the Jackson Ranger District of the Bridger-Teton National Forest. Gros Venture area Bang Creek fire is 52 acres and Palisades area Wolf Fire is 11. Forest managers are letting the two lightning caused fires to take their natural course and encourage travelers to be cautious and watch for signs
Bridger-Teton National Forest’s Big Piney Ranger District is giving out free-use firewood permits for Middle Piney Lake starting July 7. Last year’s avalanche deposited so many trees in the lake it’s keeping the water from flowing freely. Firewood collectors are limited to four cords and can get permits at the Big Piney District Office between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday
Wyoming contractors have been approved to build a temporary bridge on North Piney Creek on the Big Piney Ranger District of the Bridger-Teton National Forest. Large vehicles and trailers will be able to cross North Piney Creek for the first time since 2012. The ranger district expects to have the temporary bridge ready early this summer and the National Forest is hoping to raise enough money to pay for a permanent bridge by 2017
Rangers have ordered road and campground closures because of a fire in the Bridger-Teton National Forest. The Pole Creek fire area started as a prescribed burn but 50-mile-an-hour winds spread embers and turned the burn into a wildfire. Rangers say roads are impassable in parts of the Bridger-Teton National Forest. The Big Piney Ranger District is reporting washouts due to warming temperatures. Travelers to the area are urged to proceed with caution.

The Bridger-Teton National Forest is planning to burn in the Cottonwood area in the next couple weeks. The Cottonwood II prescribed burn is about 20 miles west of Daniel, WY in the Big Piney Ranger District and is just over 1,000 acres. Fire managers are beginning this week and may continue through mid-June depending on the weather
The Bridger-Teton National Forest Avalanche Center is shifting into offseason mode and isn’t giving daily advisories any more. Jackson Hole News and Guide says the center will continue to track avalanche, weather and snow data. The last on the tracked was the wet slab triggered Ferry Peak avalanche east of Alpine Junction
The Bridger-Teton National Forest and Teton Interagency Fire staff is hosting an open house tomorrow at the Hoback Volunteer Fire Department to discuss the plan for the Hoback Fuels Reduction Project. Jackson Hole News and Guide says fire managers are reviewing maps and goals for the Lower Palmer fire in the Teton County Wildfire Protection Plan. They will be burning live and dead vegetation to protect people, property and natural resources
The Jackson Hole & Greater Yellowstone Visitor Center is closing Friday April 18 through Monday April 21 as construction crews finish their project. Construction began early March and crews are adding 300 square feet to the lower floor to help with the flow of visitors. Visitor services are still available during construction at places like the Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce and the Bridger-Teton National forest Supervisor’s Office

There are five specific projects including: restoring campgrounds, repairing Snake River boat ramps and prohibiting shooting in a part of the park.
