Dog Lovers Petition Jackson Town Council

Dog lovers are trying to convince the Jackson Town Council to replace their dog park. Jackson Hole Daily says the town closed it down to make way for an affordable housing complex. The dog lovers gained 650 signatures on their petition and are hoping to get a permanent location for the park

Teton County Rec District Approves $64,000 for King Snow Guns

Teton County schools’ recreation district board gave $1.3 million in tax money back to the community by purchasing an inflatable obstacle course, summer school and snow guns for Snow King. Jackson Hole Daily says the board members also paid for archery equipment, after-school programs and a boundary fence on the high school tennis courts. The board filled 25 requests for money to local parks, recreation and public schools

Habitat for Humanity Breaks Ground at Daisy Bush

Habitat for Humanities of the Greater Tetons is breaking ground on four affordable homes in the Daisy Bush subdivision tonight at five on the corner of Nelson Drive and Weatleigh Way in east Jackson. Jackson Hole Daily says Habitat has already chosen the families who will live in the new homes. There will be speakers between 6:15 and 6:30

Jackson Hole April Airport Numbers Dive Drastically

Jackson Hole Airport took a normal dive last month when it comes to the number of people getting on and off their planes. Jackson Hole Daily says April had between 7,500 and 8,000 planes flying in and out compared to 32,000 in March. April did see a big drop in numbers, but the slowest month of the year is November with about 7,000 passengers flying in and out

Boy Scouts Set Records at 47th Antler Auctions

Boy Scouts set several records at the 47th Annual Boy Scout Antler Auction this past Saturday. Almost 14,000 pounds of antlers were sold which is well above the 10 year average of about 8,200 pounds. More antlers were sold this year than any other year in history and the sale pulled in just over $233,000

Little or No Progress in Jackson Town Policies

Jackson isn’t making any progress on many of its town policies. County staff members say it’s just what they were expecting though. The workforce is worse, there is less housing available and there is more traffic according to The 2014 Annual Indicator Report. Jackson Hole Daily says the town and county are hoping a housing action plan that’s currently being written will help them understand how to reverse the trend

Schwabacher Landing Road Closes Until June

Schwabacher Landing Road, parking lot and surrounding area on the east bank of the Snake River is going to be closed off today through June 30 for construction. The project is to repair and pave the upper part of the road. The closure starts a quarter mile south of the Highway 89 intersection and will be closed to cars and pedestrians

Town Council Ends Plan to Build Raised Medians on Broadway

Jackson Town Council voted to get rid of the plan to build two raised concrete medians on Broadway. Jackson Hole Daily says the medians would have blocked traffic by making left turns more difficult. The Wyoming Department of Transportation would have started the project next week, but the mayor and town council shot it down

Road Work Ends for ElkFest Weekend

Jackson state highway officials are planning to have West Broadway completely clear in time for ElkFest this year. Jackson Hole Daily says painting and stripping crews have been working on the 5-way intersection causing traffic on Broadway and Snow King Avenue. Teton county resident engineer for the Wyoming Department of Transportation Bob Hammond says they should be off the road by Saturday morning

Neighbors Complain About King’s Zip Line Course

Jackson residents are complaining about a new zip line ropes course being built on Snow King Mountain this summer. The Bridger-Teton National Forest aerial adventure course is building six ropes course challenges and a 600-foot zip line covering 1.5 acres in the northeast corner of the resort’s lease area.
