Rockfall Mess To Be Repaired

The Wyoming Department of Transportation has announced that TK Mining Service of Grand junction, Colorado has submitted the low bid of $817,000 to replace and repair rock-fall mesh on the slopes above highways over Salt Pass, Teton Pass and in the Snake River Canyon. Rock falls since the mesh was installed in 2000 have damaged panels and split some of the seams between the panels of mesh that protect the highways and the traffic using them below. The work is scheduled to be completed by October 31st.

Weather Service Warns Against Bitter Cold

The National Weather Service this morning warned parents sending their children back to school for the first day after the holidays to bundle them up for their wait at the bus stop.  Temperatures in Northwestern Wyoming hovered in the areas of -10 to -30 in some locations.  The service’s weather statement added that wind chill values intensified the effects of those bitter temperatures.  Sub-zero temperatures are also forecast for tomorrow morning in the region.

Flu Spreading Across Wyoming

Cases of influenza have been picking up across the state of Wyoming; and Idaho is reporting its first flu-related death now.  Altogether, Wyoming has recorded over 460 cases of flu, while Wyoming Department of Health Spokesperson Kim Deti says a majority seem to be on the eastern side of the state.  She says there have been only a handful of cases reported in Teton County, but she quickly points out … Continue Reading

Propane Rates Increase

Lower Valley Energy has announced a planned increase in the cost of propane service to customers.  According to a statement from the energy cooperative, a “pass-through” hike of 56¢ per gallon will be imposed beginning January 25th.  According to a news release from the co-op, the increase is the result of a hike in the wholesale price.
