Tractor Trailer Wrecks on Teton Pass

August 7, 2012 Jackson Hole, State of Wyoming, Teton County No Comments
steep grade

Crews are at work today clearing Teton Pass of debris where a tractor-trailer overturned about 7:30 last night.  The crash tied up traffic for a little over an hour while crews extricated the driver and secured the scene.  According to Wyoming Highway Patrol Lieutenant Tom Kelly, 50-year-old Sharop Khudayberganov of Davenport, Iowa was eastbound with a load of talcum powder when the truck lost its brakes and failed to negotiate a curve just west of Wilson.  Kelly says the driver escaped the wreck with only a few bumps and scratches.  The tractor and trailer along with over two-hundred feet of guardrail were a total loss.  The trucker is being cited with driving over the pass with an overweight load.
