Jenny Lake Boat Shuttles End

Jenny Boats

Due to an uncommonly low lake level at Jenny Lake, the popular boat shuttles across the lake will come to an end after the long Labor Day Weekend.  Grand Teton National Park Spokesperson Jackie Skaggs explains that the service usually is available into September.  Skaggs says the boats generally run until the second or third week of September, weather depending.  This year, instead of cold temperatures or snowfall closing down the operations, it will be the issue of low water which causes a concern for potential damage to the boat motors.  Skaggs says along with the end of the shuttle service, the ranger-led Inspiration Point hike will be discontinued and replaced with another program to be called Explore Jenny Lake.  Still, Skaggs says visitors may access Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point by taking one of the trails on either side of the lake that connects with the Cascade Canyon Trail to the falls and beyond.  While Skaggs says it’s not known if the current low lake level is unprecedented, it is certainly considered unusual.
