Roundabout Opens At Hoback
It likely put some motorists’ heads in a spin yesterday when the Wyoming Department of Transportation began routing traffic at Hoback Junction through the new round-about at that intersection. Lieutenant Tom Kelly of the Wyoming Highway Patrol saysthe concept for how it works is easy enough. All traffic moving through the roundabout moves in a counter-clockwise direction. Kelly says when entering the roundabout, traffic is to yield to those approaching from the left – traffic on the left has the right-of-way. However, Kelly quickly adds that not everyone approaching the new intersection is entirely familiar with the protocols, and so caution and patience will be critical – especially during its early stages of use. Additionally, Kelly cautions that the connection to the old bridge requires a jog in the roadway for those exiting or entering the roundabout.
