Mead Hears Wyoming Range Concerns
A delegation of people opposed to plans to drill for natural gas in the upper Hoback River Drainage had an audience yesterday with Wyoming Governor Matt Mead and a couple of close advisors. So far, the governor has not taken a stand on the controversial drilling plan, but has said he wants to hear from people both for and against the plans of Houston-based Plains Exploration and Production to drill 136 gas wells from 17 well pads in the area. Those who met with Mead yesterday included Dan Smitherman, Spokesman for a group called “Citizens For the Wyoming Range,” and Stephanie Kessler with the Wyoming Wilderness Society. Hundreds of people, including those opposed to the drilling attended recent public meetings in western Wyoming about plans for drilling in the Wyoming Range of Bridger Teton National Forest.
