Crude Meth Lab Discovered In Jackson
A Michigan Man was arrested and Jackson Police, aided by the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigations and the Region 8 hazardous material response team dismantled a small camp area on High School Butte near South Park Loop Road in Jackson Friday where an apparent methamphetamine lab had been set up. Jackson Police Chief Todd Smith says the lab was found after a man was spotted near the Jackson Hole Middle School acting strangely. 40-year-old Joseph Schultz of L’Anse, Michigan was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine, and a search of the area near where he was arrested turned up the campsite and lab. Police closed South Park Loop Road in the vicinity of the campsite until about 10:00 pm to allow officers to dispose of the lab safely. Smith emphasizes that at no time were residents’ or students’ safety compromised. Schultz is currently being held in the Teton County Jail on charges of Interference with Police, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
