Daniels Fund Gives Scouts $105,000
The Daniels Fund has announced $1.5-million in grants to Wyoming nonprofits including one near Pinedale. Boy Scouts of America Camp New Fork was at risk of closing down due to problems with its infrastructure. In 2010, a well drilled by volunteers to supply water to the campbegan to dry up. The Trapper Trails Council applied to the state of Wyoming for a permit to drill a new 200-foot well, but the permitting inspection turned up numerous problems with the well and the camp’s entire water system. That left the council with a choice of either doing a complete $300,000 rebuild of the water system by 2013 or closing the camp. On September 30th, 2011, Union Wireless made a donation of $10,000, and together with financial and in-kind donations from other companies and individuals, work on the water system was begun. Now, the Daniels Fund established by Cable TV Pioneer Bill Daniels of Casper has contributed $105,000 to advance the needed improvements at the camp.
