Coroner Privacy Approved
A Senate Committee has voted to support legislation increasing privacy in the offices of Wyoming coroners yesterday. Representative Keith Gingery who sponsored House Bill 42 says increasing the information and materials that coroners can keep secret will prevent distasteful or embarrassing pictures and information from appearing on the Internet. Gingery said that a main point of the legislation is to create a consistent procedure for determining public access to coroners’ records. Before the Senate Committee passed the measure out to the floor, they added an amendment to enable the coroner to issue a summary of the relevant information from the toxicology report.
