griz trap

Visitors to Yellowstone National Park are being cautioned that the Interagency Grizzly Bear Team’s studies of the park’s grizzly bear population are under way again and continue through the end of October.  Park Spokesman Al Nash says study team members will bait and trap bears at a number of remote sites within the park, anesthetizing the bears captured while biologists collect scientific samples for study and radio-collar the bears.  Nash say it is important that the public observes the posted closures and warnings in the areas where the trapping and study is taking place.  The bears can become even more unpredictable as they are coming out from under the anesthesia.
