Minor Growth Noted On LHC Fire
The Little Horsethief Canyon Fire grew by 20 acres Sunday, now involving an estimated 3,373 acres which officials say are 57% contained. Hand crews yesterday patrolled and continued their direct attack on the northeastern flank of the fire with aerial support. While smoke filled the valley Saturday night and Sunday morning, officials say it originated from the North Buffalo Fire north of Moran and not the Little Horsethief Canyon Fire. Fire managers felt confident enough with the progress made here that they deployed crews to assist with a new fire in Sublette County. This leaved 650 personnel on the Little Horsethief Canyon Fire aided by nine helicopters, 40 engines and three bulldozers. No evacuations or evacuation advisories are in currently place as a result of this fire. To date, the fire has cost $5.8-million dollars to suppress.
