Wildlife Arch Completed On Togwotee
A wildlife arch, recently erected on the Rosie’s Ridge section at milepost 10.5, was hydro-mulched Wednesday afternoon to encourage wildlife use of the arch, by muffling the sound from traffic passing on the highway overhead. The mulching spray used inside the arch is a bonded fiber matrix, basically slurry with a “tackifier” to harden the mixture. The green-colored mixture also dulls the shiny surface of the corrugated steel, helping to blend the arch with its surroundings. The wildlife arch is just one of the improvements added over Togwotee Pass to help keep travelers and wildlife safe along U.S. 26-287.
