LHC Fire Quelled

fire crew

Weather conditions have led to less activity but more smoke on the Little Horsethief Canyon Fire which has not grown from the 3,373 acres measured two days ago.  Currently, the firefighting force has been reduced to 574 people as resources are being sent to assist on the Chall Creek Fire southwest of Bondurant.  Fire crews are being aided by 9 helicopters, 21 engines and one bulldozer now since the rough terrain north of Game Creek requires work to be done by hand crews.  The slow going in that terrain also means containment lines have only increased to 58% in the last day but fire officials feel confident that movement of the fire has been limited now.  Those wishing to view the fire can find webcam links at tetonfires.com So far, the cost of fighting this fire has risen to nearly 6.6-million dollars.
