Fire managers have announced that a limited number of trails on the west face of Snow King have reopened for public use now. The area and trail closures were necessary to facilitate continuing fire operations including helicopter flights and fire camps.  Trails that have been reopened so far are limited to the Snow King Mountain trail to the top of the Cougar Lift, the Sink or Swim trail from Snow King Resort to Josie’s Ridge, and Josies Ridge trail from the trailhead to the 7200 elevation.  Those hiking the trails are urged to stay on the trails in the interest of safety. Meanwhile, a majority of the other trails in the Snow King, Cache Creek and Game Creek areas – including the Snow King Summit trail and summit ridge – remain closed and the public is asked to stay out of those closed areas.  Paragliding in the area also remains prohibited due to the continued aerial firefighting
