Progress on the Little Horsethief Canyon Fire south of Jackson led to only slightly more fire line being established, but the fire continues to wane. About 417 people are now fighting that fire aided by three helicopters, 18 fire engines and one bulldozer. At this time, the 3373 acre fire is 83% contained at a cost of $7.6-million. Further to the north, the North Buffalo Fire continues to burn in the Teton Wilderness, now involving 25,500 acres and being tended to by nine firefighters. It is primarily smoke from that fire that is being seen around the valley.
