Park Video Helps Nab Suspected Kidnapper
Video surveillance from Yellowstone National Park helped in the capture of the man responsible for last week’s kidnapping and assault of an 11-year-old Cody girl. The Montana man’s car was spotted as he drove through Yellowstone, and now 39-year-old Jessie Paul Speers is being being held without bond in Bozeman and has waived extradition.
Cody Police Chief Perry Rockvam says it was a total team effort from the start. He says it started with collecting and reviewing all the video surveillance available, going door-to-door, conducting interviews, and developing all possible leads. Then, a video from Yellowstone National Park showed Speers driving through the park the day before the incident provided a photo of the license plate leading to Speer’s apprehension in Belgrade, Montana. As yet, Speers has not entered a plea.
