Land Sale Now Up To Feds
Governor Matt Mead signed the bill Friday morning making it possible for 1400 acres of state land inside Grand Teton National Park to be sold to the Interior Department without it having to be put out to open bid. The $107-million dollars to be realized from that sale will be placed into a foundation account to benefit state education. Mead told the representative and senators in attendance that it is almost ironic that he would be the one to sign the bill authorizing the sale. Bill Sponsor Ruth Ann Petroff pointed out that the measure is important to the local community, to the state for the gains it makes for the school trust and for Wyoming all around. Now, it is up to the federal government to find the necessary money and consummate the deal.
