Heavy Voter Turn-out Swamps Jackson Hole Precinct

It has been a larger voter turn-out in Teton County than expected today.  “It’s been a huge, huge turnout in the Cottonwood Park area,” says County Clerk Sherry Daigle; and she adds that despite the additional voters they had planned for, the precinct had to revert to paper ballots shortly before 3:00 pm.  That means for any ballot cast after that time there, the results will have to be hand-tabulated which will cause delays in the results.  Daigle said as of 4:30 pm, no other precinct had run out of the computerized ballots, but the demand was getting close.  Daigle says the overage was likely due in part to additional development in the area around Cottonwood, but she said the voter turn-out has been unusually heavy as well.  Polls close at 7:00 pm and computerized results should be fairly swift in coming despite the high turn-out — but those will not reflect the paper ballots which will be factored in later in the evening.
