Two of Three Constitutional Amendments Pass
Verified election results from the state’s 23 counties are to be sent to the Secretary of State’s office by the end of the day today so that the state canvassing board can recheck and certify the results there. Secretary of State Max Maxfield says the unofficial results he has received already indicate that Wyoming voters have approved two of the three proposed constitutional amendments. Voters approved Amendment A which provides that the right of health care decisions be reserved to the citizens of Wyoming, and Amendment B which recognizes the heritage of Wyoming citizens to fish, hunt and trap wildlife subject to regulation. However, unofficial returns show that the voters rejected Amendment C which would have expanded the duties of district court commissioners. Maxfield explained that in order for a constitutional amendment to pass, it must receive a majority of the total ballots cast in the election. Final canvassing of the election returns takes place November 14th.
