A 79 year-old Kelly woman has died of injuries she sustained last month in a roll-over accident in Hoback Canyon. The Wyoming Highway Patrol Saturday announced that Justine Bruteig, who had been injured when her pick-up truck spun out on an icy section of US 191 19miles south of Jackson, died last Monday at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. Bruteig lost control of her vehicle, crossed the northbound lane of travel then over-corrected to the right crossing the southbound lane of travel and then leaving the roadway on the west side in a passenger side leading slide. The vehicle then rolled 3 complete times down a steep embankment before coming to rest on it’s wheels in the Hoback River. Jackson Hole Fire Chief Willy Watsabaugh and a trooper with the Wyoming Highway Patrol were in the vicinity and tended to Bruteig until help could arrive. She was taken by ambulance to St. John’s Medical Center and then airlifted to EIRMC where she succumbed to her injuries November 5th.
