Search Fails To Turn Up Missing Plane
Sublette County searchers spent the day Sunday conducting a ground search for a small plane missing since Saturday evening when it failed to return to the airport in Sublette County. Spokesman Steve Smith says the Cessna 182 with one person on board vanished from radar about 4:00 pm Saturday after having left Stevensville, Montana about 11:30 am. Smith says searchers launched their efforts at dawn Sunday but failed to turn up any sign of the plane 5:30 Sunday evening. Teton County officials say the county’s search and rescue helicopter was requested to assist in the search but could not because of weather conditions. The search zone is in the Upper Hoback area along the Sublette/Lincoln County line. The identity of the plane’s occupant or where he was from were not released. Smith says efforts will resume with first light Monday.
