Search For Missing Plane Continues
A second day of searching the Upper Hoback area of Sublette County failed to turn up any sign of a missing plane that disappeared with one person aboard Saturday afternoon. Personnel from the Sublette County Sheriff’s Department and the Tip Top Search and Rescue team combed the area on foot and on snow machines aided by hand-held emergency locator receivers, but without success. Sheriff’s Spokesman Steve Smith says nearly two feet of new snow has fallen since the aircraft was reported overdue late Saturday afternoon. Smith says today the search area is to be expanded and improved weather conditions now allow aircraft from the Civil Air Patrol and Teton County’s Search and Rescue helicopter to join the effort. The Cessna 182 was lost from radar over the Upper Hoback area about 4:00 pm Saturday as it was bound for Ralph Wenz Airport in Pinedale from Stevensville, Montana. Smith identified the pilot and lone occupant as 63-year-old Myles McGinnis of La Barge, Wyoming.
