Rain In The Valley Is Snow In The Mountains

December 3, 2012 Jackson Hole, Teton County No Comments
Snowflake

Where’s the snow we thought was coming?  According to the National Weather Service Office in Riverton, it is in the higher elevations.  As of Sunday, the Weather Service listed Grand Targhee’s official measuring station as having 19 inches, Lewis Lake Divide in Yellowstone had 16 inches, Two Ocean Plateau had 15 inches,  Jackson Hole Rendezvous Bowl had 13 inches, Phillips Bench and Togwotee Pass had eight inches, and Granite Creek had six inches.  Meanwhile, the precipitation that fell over the weekend came as rain in the lower elevations due to unseasonally warm temperatures.  Still, the snowfall has pushed Jackson Hole and Grand Targhee Ski Resort ahead of most other Rocky Mountain resorts.
