Snow Piles Up In High Country
The storm that passed through over the weekend was enough to push snow totals in the high country over the top. The Natural Resources Conservation Service is reporting 103% of normal precipitation in the Snake River Basin containing 111% of normal moisture. In Yellowstone, the Madison Gallatin Basin is reported to contain 107% of normal precipitation in the reporting stations and 103% of normal in the Yellowstone stations. Togwotee Pass is reporting 101% of normal precipitation. Precipitation being reported by two of Teton County’s three ski resorts puts those resorts at the top of the list of ski areas in the Rocky Mountain region for early season snow accumulation. Over the weekend the Bridger Teton Avalanche Center reported eight slides in the Gros Ventre area, but fortunately none caused any injuries.
