Coats For Sandy Drive Overwhelms
Jackson Hole displayed its generous spirit again last month in the wake of the impacts of Sandy on the lives of people on the East Coast. Altogether, over 8,000 pounds of donations were shipped from the community to towns along the New Jersey coast – and Organizer of the Drive Dan Caruso says not only were those involved able to raise the funds to pay for the truck and fuel to send the donations east, there was an additional $4000 that was sent for use as relief to those who need it. Caruso says the donated items were taken to Little Silver, New Jersey which was not hit as hard and so has become a distribution point to other towns nearby which were heavily damaged by the storm. Caruso says he has been in contact with an organizer there who has been ferrying similar donations into the decimated areas, and he expects he will hear how Jackson’s donations were able to help through that effort.
