Officials of the Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks have announced that the state is halting the hunting of wolves in areas north of Yellowstone National Park.  The decision came in response to concerns raised over the killing of wolves wearing a radio collars for scientific research.   The hunt area involved in the closure is located adjacent the national park, east and west of Gardner.  Park officials say five wolves wearing collars have been killed in recent weeks in all three states where the wolf has been reintroduced.  Elsewhere in Montana, the state’s first wolf trapping season begins at the end of the week. Game officials say the hunt curtailment is a temporary measure.
