Wolf Season Closes
Wyoming’s first wolf hunting season closed Monday evening with a total of 43 animals having been killed in the trophy harvest areas and 26 killed across the remainder of the state. Altogether, a quota of 52 animals of the estimated population of 220 to 230 was set for this fall’s hunt in northwestern Wyoming outside of Yellowstone, Grand Teton National Park, the John D. Rockefeller Memorial Parkway, the National Elk Refuge and the Wind River Reservation. Even if this year’s total is below the quota set for management objectives, Game and Fish Department Chief Brian Nesvic says he is pleased with how this year’s hunt has gone.
