Short Film Contest Launched

For the sixth year running, the Wyoming Film Office is seeking submissions for the Wyoming Short Film Contest. Film makers can submit videos online at wyomingshortfilmcontest.com by April 5th. A $25,000 first prize will be awarded to the winning entry with a storyline that takes place in Wyoming, features Wyoming, or presents the state as a major character.  Last year, a short film by Preston Randolph of Cody called “The Summer of 81” filmed near Meeteetse was the winner.  Colin Stricklin from the state film office over the years there have been numerous finalists from filmmakers in Jackson Hole and two winners including David Gonzalez in 2008 and Jennifer Tennican in 2011.  Stricklin says the judging panel is made up of film production, visual arts and industry representatives and they will judge the entries based on certain criteria including cinematography, screenplay, acting, sound design, editing and overall production value.
