Teton County still led the state in unemployment last month even though this is the height of tourist season.  The Research & Planning section of the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services has reported that the state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased from 5.1% in November to 4.9% in December, down from its year-ago level of 5.6% and significantly lower than the current U.S. rate of 7.8%. And while Teton County’s unemployment rate followed its normal seasonal pattern and fell from 9.7% in November, it was still 7.3% for the highest jobless rate in the state during December.  The jobless rate in Teton County in December of 2011 meanwhile was 8.1%.  Sublette County remained the county with the lowest unemployment rate at 3.6%.  Most county unemployment rates around the state changed very little from November to December.

  • Don’t lose your vision in the woods - October 21, 2014
I don’t have good eyes. Had I been born a hundred years ago, there would have been no help for me. Glasses can’t help me, so I’d have blind. I have to wear a special kind of contact lens, which wasn’t available in the days of Davey Crockett and Daniel Boone. But through the miracle […]
  • Hunters must be conservationists first - October 20, 2014
As hunters, it’s our responsibility to take care of the critters we hunt, as well as those we don’t. We have to obey the game laws. Police ourselves to be sure others respect the wildlife. And even offer suggestions to the Game and Fish Commission when we think there are better ways to ensure that […]
