Snowpack Near Normal Here

February 4, 2013 Greater Yellowstone, State of Wyoming No Comments
Snowflake

Small accumulations of snow several days last week helped maintain the snowpack in northwestern Wyoming, if not at 100% of average, at least within 10% of the norm.  The Snake River Basin checked in Friday at 94% of average snowpack, but 98% of the average water content.  The Yellowstone Basin which includes Two Ocean Plateau reported 99% of average for both snowpack and water content, and Togwotee Pass within the Wind River Basin had 91% for the average of both water content and snowpack. The National Weather Service predicts the next week or two will be dry in Northwestern Wyoming with slightly above normal temperatures – which is not good news for the area’s snowpack.
