Peck Wins The IPSSSDR
Beginning the 18th annual International Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race in second place, Aaron Peck of Grand Prairie, Alberta steadily closed in on the leader and this weekend posted the fastest overall time in the race to win the 2013 event at its conclusion in Evanston. Although winning is the objective of any race, Peck says the spirit of the IPSSSDR is much more than that. Peck says all the competitors strive to be the best they can be, but it’s fun and serious at the same time. Blayne “Bud” Streeper who held the lead through much of the race came in second. Streeper had previously won the IPSSSDR four times. Meanwhile, a rookie from Sweden, Lars Lindh placed third overall. At the conclusion of the race, Junior Mushers teamed up with the professionals for the Jr. Stage Stop fun race. Junior Mushers teamed up with the professionals for the traditional Jr. Stage Stop fun race. The new 2013 route traveled through Wyoming, Idaho, Montana and Utah, making the IPSSSDR the first sled dog race to span four states.
