Travel Conference Continues In Cheyenne

The 2013 Wyoming Governor’s Hospitality and Tourism Conference continues in Cheyenne today.  Wyoming Travel Commission Director Diane Shober says the conference provides an opportunity to network, educate and interact with state legislators.  In Shober’s words, “we do share with them the value and importance of the tourism industry and what it means to Wyoming’s economy and what it means for jobs.”  A recent report shows a 4% increase in visitors to Wyoming and a 7.6%  increase in tax revenues to the state.  Shober says it is the product Wyoming offers that brings people to the state.  Specifically, she points to destinations like Yellowstone, Grand Teton and Devil’s Tower as a sort of right of passage for generations of visitors.  The conference concludes tonight with the Travel Commission’s annual banquet and “Big Wyo Award.”
