Snow King Lift Reopens

February 13, 2013 Jackson Hole, State of Wyoming, Teton County, Town of Jackson No Comments
Snow King Lift

After approximately three weeks out of service, the Summit Chairlift at Snow King Ski Resort is back in service.  The lift was taken off line when operators detected a squeak in the main drive wheel – or bull wheel – and determined it needed to be proactively addressed.  Resort officials say it turned out to be a bearing inside the wheel.  Crews were brought in from the lift company to dismantle the wheel, replace the bearing in the shop and then reinstall and test the wheel.  Meanwhile, the resorts Facebook page says crews were able to use the down time to do some aggressive grooming on the runs normally served by the lift.  The lift had seen similar work on the bull wheel’s bearings two years ago.
