Searcher Find Lost Snowmobilers

TCSAR

Teton County Search and Rescue spent another late night out Wednesday searching for and finding two lost snowmobilers in the Gros Ventre Mountains.  The party of two, riding one rented snowmobile, became stuck and stranded.  The snowmobile rental company called them in as missing shortly after 6:00 pm and searchers located them about 11:15 pm in a remote cabin they had found unlocked.  Search and Rescue Coordinator Doug Meyer says the couple told rescuers they hiked about eight miles before locating the cabin.  He says when the searchers found them; they had built a fire in the cabin and were resting in front of it.  Meyer reminds those heading outdoors for recreation in the winter to always be prepared for the possibility of an unexpected night out.  Carry at least food, water, clothing, headlamp and a fire starter.
