Residents of Hoback Ranches who have lost their homes during the Roosevelt fire are scrambling to get themselves reestablished prior to the winter. Fund drives have been set up to assist them in dealing with their losses financially including one in Jackson Friday specifically seeking to help first responders in Jackson Hole who suffered losses themselves in the fire. Among them is one of Jackson’s police officers whose family lost their home in the blaze. The Jackson Police Employees Association is sponsoring Roosevelt Fire Benefit Friday evening at the Elks Lodge which includes a Spaghetti dinner for a $20 donation and a raffle of two guns. Tickets for the raffle are $25 each. Unfortunately, the disaster does not qualify for assistance since only 22 of the 55 structures destroyed were primary residences and federal guidelines require an event to involve 25 primary homes to trigger assistance. The Pinedale Lions Club has also launched a drive to provide aid to victims of the fire which was recently supported by a $100,000 challenge grant from Jackson Philanthropist Foster Friess.
