Wildfire Webinar Offered

The International Association of Wildland Fire is offering a “webinar” tomorrow entitled “Debunking Myths in Wildland Fire.  The association explains that as more people live in high fire hazard areas, the active involvement of the public is central to many efforts to minimize fire risk and improve forest health. One barrier to effectively engaging the public is that many of the accepted descriptions related to the public and wildfire are based primarily on conventional wisdoms that may or may not hold. Consequently, developing an accurate understanding of public views of fire and forest management is important in designing policy and outreach that effectively engages the public and ensures that limited resources are most effectively targeted at the issues that are of actual rather than perceived public concern.  The “webinar” begins at 1:00 pm and those wishing to attend may make arrangements by contacting them in advance at https://www1.gotomeeting.com/register/556276081
