Shrine Hospital Sees Big Benefits

While statistics from the two weekends of activities sponsored by the Jackson Hole Shrine Club are still being analyzed, it appears fund-raising efforts for the Shriners’ Crippled Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City were very successful.  Club President Rod Everett says between the Cutter Races and the Skijoring a week later, the club grossed $121-thousand dollars.  While expenses and awards still need to be paid out of that, Everett says a total of $30-thousand dollars from sponsors and the travel and tourism board to promote the two events did much to make the events so successful, enabling advertising on a variety of national cable channels.  Everett says those attending the cutter races hailed from 26 different states.  Everett says contestants for the cutter races came from as far away as White Fish, Montana and spectators from as far away as Maine.  Everett estimates crowds at the cutter races swelled to between four and five thousand, and the skijoring saw between four and six hundred each day in spite of it being the first year for the event.
