Forest Studies Fire Mitigation
The Jackson Ranger District of the Bridger-Teton National Forest is seeking the public’s comments on a proposed Teton-to-Snake Fuels Management Project, located on national forest lands west of Jackson in Teton and Lincoln counties. The Forest Service is preparing an environmental impact statement to document the potential effects of treating National Forest land to: reduce the potential fire behavior within the wildand-urban interface, better protect threatened values, improve firefighter safety, and allow fire to play a more natural role in the ecosystem. Treatments include understory thinning and prescribed fire some of which are located within the Palisades Wilderness Study Area and Inventoried Roadless Areas.
