Forbes Names Local Billionaires
Forbes Magazine has published its 2013 Forbes Billionaires list and the latest list includes three partners in McLean-base Mars, Inc. Those three include Forrest Mars, Junior of Big Horn, Wyoming, Forrest’s sister Jacqueline Mars in The Plains, Virginia, and John Mars in Jackson, Wyoming. Forbes writes “Mars is the largest candy company in the world, with $33-billion in estimated sales, thanks in part to its $23-billion acquisition of gum maker Wrigley’s in 2008.” In addition to candy, Mars also owns Pedigree food for dogs which each year sponsors the International Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race out of Jackson and Whiskas pet foods.
