It’s game-on in Wyoming. Governor Matt Mead signed the bill allowing Wyoming to enter into a multi-state lottery or start a state lottery effective July 1st. Mead says the lottery will be a way to keep Wyoming money in Wyoming. Mead says currently, Wyoming is seeing many people cross the border to buy tickets and then spend dollars in out-of-state businesses. Instead, Mead says he wants to keep those dollars here. Mead says because the lottery is a form of gambling, he is committed to keeping a close eye on any social impacts it may have when it gets up and running to see if there are ways to address them. After July first, Governor Mead is to appoint a nine member board, which will hire a CEO to oversee the lottery.
