Xanterra Gets Another 20 Years In YNP
Once Yellowstone National Park opens for the season, it will be Xanterra Parks and Resorts that will be providing the lodging, retail and other visitor services in the park once again. Xanterra was awarded a new 20-year contract to be the park’s primary concessioner, with a stipulation that they provide a 4.5% franchise fee and maintain a 6% repair and maintenance reserve account. The contract also requires an estimated $134.5-million investment in facilities improvements including the redevelopment of lodging at Canyon. Work on that and other projects are set to begin in 2014 and be completed by 2018.
