Snow King Mountain Resort has partnered with Jackson Hole based mountain apparel brand Stio to launch an Uphill Challenge for the 80thAnniversary winter season. Uphill pass and season pass holders will be able to scan their passes at the base of the Summit Lift or Rafferty Lift and then scan them at the top point they reach on the mountain.
As skiers or boot packers climb the mountain they can scan their passes at either the mid-mountain pump house, the saddle, or the panorama house. Their times and vertical feet climbed will be logged on each journey. Awards will be given monthly to the top male and female winners for fastest times and most vertical feet climbed. In addition, bi-weekly random drawings will be held for those who have climbed over a certain amount of vertical feet that week. Prizes will include pants, jackets, hats, fleeces and gear from the official uphill sponsor Stio.
“This partnership involves two things we are very passionate about: our local town hill and human powered, uphill travel,” says Stio founder Stephen Sullivan. “Snow King is near and dear to our hearts, and we’re excited to partner with the mountain to advance uphill opportunities for Jackson Hole locals and visitors alike.”
“Uphill skiing is an integral part of the culture at Snow King Mountain, and we are thrilled to be offering an exciting partnership with Stio to our uphill and season pass holders,” says Snow King General Manager Ryan Stanley. “We are fortunate to have a local partner like Stio that also works to encourage people to be outdoors and achieve their very best. We look forward to seeing locals out on the hill and hope they challenge friends and co-workers to get out and explore this winter season.”
Snow King Mountain is installing scan stations at the base with new signage along the new uphill routes. Participants will be able to go online and track their results. For uphill challenge details and information, visit snowkingmountain.com/uphill.
