Teton Valley School Week Remains 5 Days
Teton School District 401 based in Driggs, Idaho has announced its school board has decided not to pursue a four-day school week in the interest of cost-cutting as proposed, but will consider other means of cutting the budget in future discussions of the 2013/2014 budget. The school board made that decision earlier this week, citing the effect of longer school days on the district’s younger students among the reasons for the decision. The Idaho Department of Education says there are currently 14 school districts and two charter schools that operate on a four-day schedule but admit the cost savings of making such a move are not substantial.
