Police Enforce Open Container Law
Hill Climb weekend is a great time for competition among snow machine riders and manufacturers, but it also serves as a time to party as well. As such, alcoholic beverages are sold at the event, and Jackson Police Lieutenant Cole Nethercott reminds residents and visitors alike that the town does have an open container law. However, Nethercott says that law is relaxed in the immediate area of the hill climb event, but large signs are posted where they leave that area, and no open containers are permitted outside the base of the hill. Nethercott also says the police department is concerned about the overall safety of participants in the hill climb and he urges revelers to be sure they have arrangements to get from the hill to where they are staying safely. Nethecott says the department wants participants to be sure they have a safe way to get home – especially with the weather the way it is. Nethercott says officers will be out in force this weekend, not only to keep order, but to help provide information for visitors to the community as they try to find their ways around.
